Want to share writing lessons?
You’ve come to the “write” place! My name is Michelle Joy, and I am the Writing Coach for my school system (K – 6). I am working with all the teachers in four elementary schools to implement Writer’s Workshop. If you have questions about writing lessons for K – 6, please ask, and I’ll try to answer them. Also, if you have any lessons to share, please Post them here.
I will Post some of my favorite writing lessons each week. Check back each week to find more lessons for your classroom.
#1 Children often write stories with sentences that are just action sentences (I went to see the dentist. She pulled my tooth out. I went home.) Encourage them to add in thinking sentences and talking sentences (internal and external dialogue). The writing improves when they write with a mix of thought, action, and dialogue.
